What is the truth?

Only for the serious individual...

the honest truth about Elon Musk and Lex Fridman7 min read

17 hours ago, Lex Fridman posted, “Some days I feel like a loser.”

Elon Musk replied, “Same.”

In this letter, I want to explore the truth.

“It is truth that liberates, not your effort to be free.”
~ Jiddu Krishnamurti

Why does Lex feel this way?

Why does Elon Musk feel this way?

And why do you sometimes feel this way?

Do you have to feel like a loser on some days until you die?

IF EVEN Elon Musk and Lex Fridman can feel this way.

After achieving a lot of worldly success…

Then many people live in an illusion.

“I will feel better AFTER I accomplish XYZ”.

Disclaimer: I may make a lot of assumptions about Lex or Elon.

They don’t have to be true for them, but they could be true for you, or the vast majority of people.

And by the way, if you’re new here, I’m Jordan, 23 years old, did over $4.5 million in revenue and hired over 50 people. Only to find out that those things don’t matter to me.

What I care about is the truth.

So what is the truth here?

Why do you feel like a loser, Lex?

Is it the idea that you should have things that you do not have right now?

A girlfriend, a wife, maybe kids, because you’re already 40 years old?

If you had the decision power to control how you felt, you would not choose suffering, would you?

This is important to see because it means there is something that you do not yet have control over that is affecting your state of mind.

I believe Lex is known for his lack of success in love.

I’m not sure if that’s still true, but let’s continue with the assumption.

Then I think we can say that there is a desire for a wife, a girlfriend, and perhaps kids.

And because that isn’t yet there, or not the way you want it, there is pain.

Or negative emotion i.e. feeling like a loser…

On some days that feeling is more dominant.

On some days that feeling is ‘too much’.

For instance, when you see a couple re-unite at the airport, your mind comes up with all these involuntary thoughts, increasing your desire to GET what you LACK and SUPPOSED to have.

This creates a negative feeling.

And you want to ESCAPE it.

But isn’t this an endless cycle?

On days where you feel balanced or good, there’s no problem.

You look for THOSE days.

But on the days when you feel like a loser, you try to escape it instead of looking INTO it.

Really finding the deep, often hidden root of the feeling.

Why do you feel like a loser?

Most people say, well, just accept it…It’s part of life.

THIS IS TRUE.

There are ups and downs in life for almost anyone.

But does it have to be that way?

“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.”
~ J. Krishnamurti

It doesn’t.

And I think it is not so much about not feeling like a loser.

Because on the days where you do not feel like a loser, you feel ANOTHER negative emotion.

Maybe you feel stressed.

Maybe you feel heartbroken.

Whatever the feeling is, it seems like anytime there is a negative emotion, we do not want it.

It should go away.

But pushing it away hasn’t worked.

Walking hasn’t worked.

Exercising hasn’t worked.

Meditating hasn’t worked.

Calling a friend hasn’t worked.

Because you STILL HAVE THOSE DAYS.

So the truth for virtually anyone who meditates is, that it only works during the session.

Maybe a few minutes or even an hour after meditating, you feel some relaxation.

This is NOT the solution to this cycle, because it repeats itself.

So continue meditating if you are looking for temporary relief.

Just continue knowing the truth.

It does NOT provide lasting peace.

Again, never, believe me, look at the results of all your relief methods…

They tell you enough, don’t they…?

I’m interested in the question, how can Elon Musk, Lex Fridman, and you, never feel like a loser again?

Probably in you, there’s a reaction right now.

The mind may say something, “Well, I’m not sure if that’s possible because do you know someone who does not feel negative anymore Lexie?”

Let’s ignore the mind for this rare moment.

You know it is possible.

Just like Elon Musk will make it possible to go to Mars.

Just like Lex Fridman has built one of the largest podcasts.

Just like you have achieved things in your life that you really, REALLY wanted.

So could the truth be that there are very few people on earth who really want lasting bliss, continuous contentment, and satisfaction?

Could that be the reason why there are so few people?

And why you can’t think of anyone?

Why there’s a big doubt in you?

Which almost manifests itself as a lack of interest in the idea? Because if it is deemed as impossible, then let’s look for another temporary pleasure chase.

“All that is great cannot be possessed.
And that is one of the most foolish things man goes on doing.
We want to possess.”
~ Osho

I mean, you can just read the comments on the post.

Let me do that right now because it’s embarrassing.

“Don’t be weak, stay hard.”

Does this work?

“You are human”

Assuming this is normal.

Accepting just that it is SUPPOSED to feel hard, tough.

That there’s supposed to be struggle.

I mean, for Elon, how can you go to Mars without struggling, without feeling bad sometimes, right?

There’s so much conditioning in this.

But does life have to be struggle?

Or could it be that if you knew the truth of you feel like a loser?

That the feeling simply disappears.

Would you feel like a loser if a doctor told you you were going to die tomorrow?

Maybe you would.

You may think about your unrealized goals or things you do not have.

Perhaps you would look at all the things you’ve done and gotten the things you’re proud of.

But the truth for everyone is that they will die with a full calendar or an empty one.

That they will die with people around them or alone.

That they will die with unrealized goals, dreams, and aspirations.

That they will die with unfinished problems, open tasks, and mistakes that need to be solved.

Is this acceptable to you?

Or can you die to the idea that you are a loser?

“To find out actually what takes place when you die you must die.

This isn’t a joke. You must die not physically but psychologically, inwardly.

Die to the things you have cherished and to the things you are bitter about.

If you have died to one of your pleasures, the smallest or the greatest, naturally, without any

enforcement or argument, then you will know what it means to die.

To die is to have a mind that is completely empty of itself.

Empty of its daily longing, pleasure, and agonies.

Death is a renewal, a mutation, in which thought does not function at all.

Because thought is old. When there is death there is something totally new.

Freedom from the known is death, and then you are living.”

~ J. Krishnamurti

Because isn’t THAT what you care about most?

Perhaps the ratio of how good you feel versus how bad you feel in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year?

Not whether you go to Mars or not.

Not whether you get this guest on your podcast or not.

Not whether you make this amount of money or you get the wife or the kids.

But the feeling that you get from those?

Simply the ratio between feeling good and bad.

What is really the truth here?

If you continue living this way like you’re used to, things will keep happening the way they do.

You continue to ‘solve’ your problems.

And it seems like you solved the problem.

You made it up with your employee, your partner, your friend, your children.

Or you bought the house, the yacht, the car. Or you found love.

But then the next ‘down’ after the ‘up’ comes.

And then you solve that ‘down’.

And that’s the cycle.

I insist: DO YOU ACCEPT THIS?

It’s not normal.

Even though everyone around you has accepted this.

“You’re under no obligation to be the same person you were 5 minutes ago.”
~ Alan Watts

If you’re still reading this, then I’m sure your mind has asked, “But, HOW then Jordan?”

And this just exposes more of your conditioning.

Always asking the question “how to”

Could it be that you wouldn’t ask ‘HOW’ only if you REALLY KNEW it was possible to end this cycle?

That just as the way you’ve gotten the thing that you wanted most in life…

That you would find YOUR way to peace.

To that it is never about the how and that it’s simply about the desire?

And about acceptance of the consequences of your desires?

More so, the consequences of that which you do NOT really desire?

In this case, if you do not really, really want to end this cycle for the rest of your life…

If that’s not the thing you want most in life…

Then it’s just about knowing the consequences that it will continue to happen.

Which isn’t bad, but that it is just simply the truth for Lex, for Elon, or I would say the vast majority of people.

I do not try to convince you to change what you want. I only want to state the truth.

That IF you really want to find the perfect wife or love or family, that you WILL find it…

But you will continue to have ups and downs in life?

If you REALLY want to go to Mars, you will find a way.

But you will continue to feel ups and downs in life.

To me, that’s not acceptable.

And I’m not good for this.

And Lex is not bad for wanting love.

And Elon is not bad for wanting Mars.

Your desires simply have consequences.

Your ‘undesires’ simply have consequences.

THAT IS THE TRUTH.

There could be many reasons why Lex feels like a loser.

He could find peace in his situation by really digging deep and finding the truth.

Which I can’t do right now because I don’t know the specifics.

“Problems that remain persistently insoluble should always be suspected as questions asked in the wrong way.” ~ Alan Watts

Feeling Like a Loser (Poem)

Some days we feel like losers,

Even those who’ve climbed so high.

Elon Musk, Lex Fridman, you and me,

I wonder why.

We chase success and money,

Thinking they will make us whole.

But even with achievements,

We can’t seem to fill that hole.

It’s not about the “how”

But what we truly desire.

Do we want eternal peace?

Or just to put out each new fire?

The truth is in the choosing,

What matters most to you?

And accept the consequences,

Of the desires you pursue.

So feeling like a loser will continue to emerge,

If ending this cycle is NOT your biggest urge.
